The winner of each week's competition gets to join a final that will be held after there has been 10 competitions. The 10 winners will rank each other in the final. Victims of Hurricane Katrina are attempting to recover from the massive storm that is still making its way across the Mid-Atlantic States. American Red Cross volunteers have been deployed to the hardest hit areas of Katrina’s destruction, supplying hundreds of thousands victims left homeless with critical necessities. WINNER OF WEEK 10 : Sarah Cheevers

Sarah Cheevers - who is she? . . . a talented and evocative singer, songwriter, and guitarist

Sarah's voice and songwriting captivate her audiences with vivid imagery and humour. Her first CD, Entwined, was released eight months after her debut public performance at Vancouver's Railway Club in August 1999. She performed in 2001 at Vancouver's New Music West as a folk pop duo with Doug Deep as well as the electronica Elle'ectricity show at Sonar. Her song about September 11th was aired on CBC and performed at the Vancouver Art Gallery peace rally for thousands of people.

Sarah has regular gigs, performing in coffee shops, pubs and larger clubs. This last year she has also performed in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and the UK. Sarah has more recently been performing as a duet and with her band.

Sarah's lyrics have caught the attention of CBC's Paul Grant ...

"I think she's going to make a pretty big splash in the Vancouver music scene and beyond as well (January 2001)".

"Highs & Lows is hypnotic and seamless . . .
sophisticated and the way the voice weaves in & out of itself is exquisite (March 2001)".

In January 2001, Sarah' song "Wallpaper" was voted No.1 by fellow competitors on mp3.com's Compo Ten competition.

Since her first CD, Sarah has worked and recorded with a number of producers, experimenting with different musical styles. Her next CD will show her growth as a songwriter and musician. She is currently recording at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver, B.C.

She has also recently had the pleasure of recording with Kelly Joe Phelps (Rykodisc), a beautiful songwriter and one of the best living slide guitarists.
